Waynesboro and Wanzhou China (Chongqing Municipality) have entered into an agreement to jointly support and promote economic development and cultural exchanges between the two cities. In November 2010 a delegation of six government and business leaders from Wanzhou and Chongqing visited Waynesboro to sign the formal document.
In 2011, the Waynesboro Wanzhou Sister City Association was official formed in anticipation of participation in the 8th Annual Chongqing International Garden Expo.
From China Travel News - - On November 19, the 8th China International Garden Expo was opened in Chongqing Garden Expo Park, New North Zone of Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality. The Garden Expo is themed by “Better Garden, Better City”, and the goal is to guide the society to have a pursuit of harmonious living environment. The Chongqing Garden Expo will be held until next April, which provides all the participants a platform for sharing resources, exchanges and cooperation.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Chongqing Municipal government, the nearly three-billion-yuan (about $470 million) Expo Garden covers an area of 220 hectares (over 540 acres), boasts more than 40 landscape architectures, 127 garden exhibition areas and 26 tourist attractions.
The Chongqing Garden Expo covers garden floral, natural ecology, leisure tourism, cultural and art, business and trade exchanges. The Chongqing Garden Expo is also characterized different styles of Chinese gardens, which demonstrates China’s main garden styles and the historic and cultural features.
In addition to Chinese style gardens, gardens from 35 cities representing five continents participated. North America cities joining Waynesboro, were Houston, Seattle, and Waterloo Ontario.
