Waynesboro offers the Best of Virginia Living 2016

WAYNESBORO, VA- The results are in, and Waynesboro is ready to celebrate the region’s award-winning attractions, food, events, medical care, and recreational outlets. Bragging rights have been secured again for the best place to catch a movie – Zeus Digital Theaters. The City also boasts the top dermatology practice and orthodontics practice in the Valley.
Each year, Virginia Living Magazine polls readers to ask where to find the state’s cream of the crop…and the response was overwhelming. This year, more than 35,000 ballots were cast, and in total, over 1500 businesses were recognized. Waynesboro residents are quite familiar with these area standouts, and the voters agreed.
And the award winners in the Shenandoah Valley region are:
Best Movie Theater – Zeus Digital Theaters
With eight screens and leather high back rocking chairs, Zeus has been showing first-run Hollywood flicks since its opening in 2010. The locally-owned theatre also offers a party room for children and adults’ functions, as well as private screenings of any of its shows. (Virginia Living Magazine- Best of Virginia 2016)
Best Dermatology Practice – Blue Ridge Dermatology
Dr. Cynthia Dent, Dr. Keith Knoell and Dr. Ines Soukoulis make up the team at Blue Ridge Dermatology, whose specialties include geriatric dermatology, psoriasis, facial peels, nail and hair disorders, and pediatric dermatology. (Virginia Living Magazine- Best of Virginia 2016)
Best Orthodontic Practice – Ashley Orthodontics
At Ashley Orthodontics, customer comfort is crucial. The practice makes a point of keeping wait times to a minimum, and skips the goopy process of taking impressions by doing them digitally. The practice, consisting of Dr. Chanda Ashley and her team of assistants and office staff, offers traditional metal braces as well as ceramic braces for children and adults, and Invisalign for adults and teens. In addition to those who took home the gold, Waynesboro had several second and third place finishes, including the Virginia Fall Foliage Festival (Best Art Event, second place), South River Fly Shop (second place in both Best Fishing Guide Company and Best Fishing Outfitter), Cravingz (Best Food Truck, third place), Outback Steakhouse (Best Steakhouse, third place), Silk Road (Best Asian Restaurant, third place), Scotto’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria (Best Italian Restaurant, third place), Eagle’s Nest Airport (Best Air Charter Service, second place), White Dress by Greta Kay (Best Bridal Boutique, third place), The Faded Poppy (Best Event Planning Company, third place), Fishburne Military School (Best Independent School, third place) and Rockfish Gap Outfitters (Best Outdoor Outfitter, third place).
“It’s rewarding to see where local favorites align with the businesses and events that are relished by visitors. These awards recognize a good number of our independent small businesses that tell the story of Waynesboro and create our quality of life” said Courtney Cranor, Assistant Director of Economic Development and Tourism. “We are delighted for the winners to receive this well-deserved recognition.”
