Waynesboro offers the Best of Virginia Living 2019

WAYNESBORO, VA– The results are in, and Waynesboro is ready to celebrate offering some of the region’s award-winning attractions, food, events, and more!

Each year, Virginia Living Magazine polls readers to ask where to find the state’s cream of the crop. This year, more than 40,000 ballots were cast, and in total, nearly 1,600 businesses were recognized. Waynesboro captured three first-place spots in the Shenandoah Valley Region, as well as numerous other recognitions:

Best Art Event – Fall Foliage Art Show

Stroll through historic downtown Waynesboro and browse paintings, photography, pottery, glass, wood, and jewelry made by more than 150 artists. Sponsored by the Shenandoah Valley Art Center, the show also features local music, craft beer and food from gourmet food trucks.  (Virginia Living Magazine- Best of Virginia 2019)

Best Golf Course – Waynesboro Golf & Country Club

Founded in the 1950s on an old farm, today the club is home to a pristine 18-hole course for all levels that is surrounded by Blue Ridge Mountain views. Members can enjoy dinner in the clubhouse and grab a drink in the taproom or cool off in the saltwater pool on a hot day.  (Virginia Living Magazine- Best of Virginia 2019)

Best Pool Company – Valley Pool & Spa

Each store has a complete water-testing lab and offers complimentary pool water testing with knowledgeable staff who know how to ensure your pool or spa always has a correct chemical balance. Choose from high-quality chemical brands such as Poolife, Baquacil, and Baqua Spa. Need a fix? The trained technicians can also assist with vinyl liner, pump, or filer repairs. Best Outdoor Adventure went to Shenandoah National Park of which Waynesboro is the southern entrance. The magazine touted the park’s app, ranger programs, hikes, and cultural sites.

In addition to those who took home the gold, Waynesboro had several second and third place finishes, including the Wayne Theatre Ross Performing Arts Center (Best Family Entertainment, second place; Best Performing Arts Company, third place; Best Special Event Venue, third place), Silk Road Asian Restaurant & Bar (Best Asian Restaurant, second place), Jake’s Bar & Grill (Best Burger Joint, third place), Basic City Beer Co. (Best Craft Brewery, third place), The Iris Inn (Best Bed and Breakfast, third place), South River Fly Shop (Best Fishing Guide Company, second place; Best Outdoor Adventure, third place), Fishburne Military School (Best Independent School, second place), Waynesboro Landscape and Garden Center (Best Landscaping Company, third place), Home Away from Home Dog Boarding & Training (Best Pet Boarding, second place), Animal Hospital of Waynesboro (Best Veterinary Hospital, third place), Amanda’s Touch (Best Bridal Boutique, second place), Twice as Nice (Best Consignment Shop, second place) and Rockfish Gap Outfitters (Best Outdoor Outfitter, third place).
